Ash-sham is the area now made up of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, and Jordan ... maybe Iraq too, but I'm not going there. This blog is about yours truly's visit there in October/November 2009
Some Armenians fled south to Syria after the Turkish genocide 1915-16. A lot have done pretty well in business and the community is prosperous.
