Ash-sham is the area now made up of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, and Jordan ... maybe Iraq too, but I'm not going there. This blog is about yours truly's visit there in October/November 2009
Syria mountains are not has high as some in the region but when it gets cold enough they getted snowcapped. These are north west of Damascus.
